The Public Health – Seattle & King County Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention was established to advance existing initiatives and programs, focusing on multi-faceted approaches to community violence intervention. Through collaborative partnerships with community organizations & cross systems partners, the office coordinates gun violence reduction efforts, engages directly with impacted communities, convenes key partners and experts, implements specific initiatives and programs, and enhances the work of the Regional Peacekeepers Collective Initiative to elevate community-led solutions.
The office best positions King County to meet the needs of youth, families, and communities impacted by gun violence in our region. As part of the National Office of Violence Prevention Network, this office works directly with community, secures additional resources, guides local efforts and implements nationally recognized strategies for Community Violence Intervention (CVI).
